Our Philosophy

"A Home Away From Home"

The Honey Tree is more than just a daycare. Our philosophy is to provide a safe, healthy, and happy environment that serves as "a home away from home where every child is cherished."

We are dedicated to caring for the whole child, addressing their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social needs. We believe that early learning is the foundation for a child's future. Every child is unique, and our approach fosters individuality, creativity, and a genuine love for learning.

Our Story

In August 1983, Helen L. Fox founded The Honey Tree with one clear goal: to create "a home away from home where every child is cherished," a center where genuine warmth and quality instruction could thrive. For over 40 years, her dedication has made a positive difference in the lives of hundreds of families.

Our Goal

Our goal is to cultivate a nurturing and stimulating environment where every child can thrive. We aim to equip children with the skills, attitudes, and confidence necessary for lifelong learning and success. By providing a diverse range of play-based, meaningful activities, we strive to inspire curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and build a strong sense of self-worth in every child.

Our Staff

Our staff is the heart of The Honey Tree. We've built a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about early childhood education. You can have peace of mind knowing that:

    • All staff members are certified in CPR and First Aid for infants, children, and adults.
    • Our teachers are well-trained and possess extensive knowledge in Early Childhood Education and developmentally appropriate practices.
    • All staff complete 24 clock hours of annual training to stay current on the best practices for child development, safety, and learning.

Our Commitment to Families

We believe that a strong partnership with our families is essential.

Open-Door Policy

We extend a warm invitation to parents to visit the center at any time. We value your active participation, whether you're joining a classroom party or simply stopping in.

Constant Communication

We use the Brightwheel app to provide you with daily reports and updates on your child's activities, milestones, and progress.

Embracing Diversity

We are committed to treating all children, parents, and coworkers fairly, without discrimination. We embrace diversity and ensure that everyone is welcomed with open arms, incorporating the cultural backgrounds of all our families into our curriculum and activities.

Our Commitment to Care

Helen's philosophy centers on the conviction that a child's care should be second only to home. Her efforts in elevating the standard of child care have been recognized by parents and the local media alike. She states, "Parents leave their children every day at The Honey Tree knowing that the love and care they receive from us is second only to home. That’s the greatest gift you can give a parent or a child.”

A Staff Built on Love

Helen credits much of the center's success to her exceptional team. "I look for warm, caring, loving individuals to work with the children," she says. This commitment to staff excellence is evident in the center's low turnover, with many employees having been with The Honey Tree for over 10 years, and some for more than 25 years. "We don’t just watch the children all day - we know them!"

WHAT PARENTS SAY?

KIND WORDS FROM OUR HONEY TREE FAMILIES

April 2019

I just want to say the team at Honey Tree are beyond amazing! It was extremely difficult for me to even think of having my little 5 month old at a day care. They were very understanding and made the transition very comfortable! When I picked up my baby he was all smiles! I am so grateful! I 100% recommended to all mommies out there. Thank you ladies!

My son is a year old and has been in attendance for 5 months now. With having a bad experience with his previous daycare, I was extremely worried and protective about who’s care to leave him in. Within a month or two that all went away because I saw and felt how much they cared! Not to mention my son has learned so much since being there!!!! I’m so very pleased with my decision.

When I transitioned my two children (2 and 8 mos.) to a full time daycare, I had many requirements; I desperately wanted my children to be in a “home away from home” environment.  After our first few days, I was astounded by how nurturing the ladies were at The Honey Tree; they truly loved my little ones!  I am equally pleased with their reliable and consistent care.  I regularly find them on the floor, at eye level with my children, playing and fostering new skills.  As a whole, we have gained a second family.  The employees at The Honey Tree cherish and care for my children as I do.  I can’t help but think this is a result of amazing leadership.  Thank you to The Honey Tree for your love and fantastic care!  We will see you tomorrow!
