The Honey Tree has been serving families since 1983, building a reputation for warmth, stability, and trusted care. What began with a clear mission continues today under steady leadership and a deep commitment to children and families.
Our Story: A Legacy Continued
The Honey Tree opened its doors in 1983 with a simple but powerful mission: to provide “a home away from home where every child is cherished.”
For more than four decades, that guiding principle has shaped our classrooms and our community. Minnie has been part of The Honey Tree since 1989, and Shelley joined in 1997. Together, they bring decades of hands-on experience and leadership to the families we serve.
Today, they continue guiding the center forward with the same warmth, consistency, and dedication that have defined The Honey Tree since the beginning.
Our Philosophy: "A Home Away From Home"
Our philosophy centers on creating a safe, welcoming environment where every child feels valued and supported. We focus on nurturing the whole child physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially through meaningful, play-based learning experiences.
We believe children learn best when they feel secure and encouraged, and we foster a classroom culture rooted in respect, guidance, and belonging.
Our Goal: Empowering Every Child
Our goal is to intentionally design classroom experiences that support growth in every area of development. Through structured activities and hands-on exploration, children build communication skills, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and develop independence.
We prepare children to transition confidently into their next stage of learning with the skills and foundation they need to succeed.
Our Staff: Expertise and Heart
Our staff is the heart of The Honey Tree. Under Minnie and Shelley’s leadership, we have built a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about early childhood education.
All staff members are certified in CPR and First Aid for infants, children, and adults. Our teachers complete ongoing annual training to remain current with best practices in safety, learning, and child development.

Open Door Policy: We welcome parents to visit the center at any time and value your involvement in your child’s experience.
Consistent Communication: Through the Brightwheel app, families receive daily updates, reports, and photos highlighting their child’s activities and progress.
Embracing Diversity: We are committed to treating all children, parents, and coworkers with fairness and respect, creating an inclusive community where everyone feels welcomed.

I just want to say the team at Honey Tree are beyond amazing! It was extremely difficult for me to even think of having my little 5 month old at a day care. My son is a year old and has been in attendance for 5 months now. With having a bad experience with his previous daycare, I was extremely worried and protective about who’s care to leave him in. Within a month or two that all went away because I saw and felt how much they cared! Not to mention my son has learned so much since being there!!!! I’m so very pleased with my decision.
When I transitioned my two children (2 and 8 mos.) to a full time daycare, I had many requirements; I desperately wanted my children to be in a “home away from home” environment. After our first few days, I was astounded by how nurturing the ladies were at The Honey Tree; they truly loved my little ones! I am equally pleased with their reliable and consistent care. I regularly find them on the floor, at eye level with my children, playing and fostering new skills. As a whole, we have gained a second family.
